What is the Gospel that we have received?

DaVinci Code’s Central Theme:
Almost everything our fathers taught us about Jesus Christ, the Bible and Church History is false!

The “Code” says: “The Bible is a product of man, my dear. Not of God….[I]t has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions.…The Bible, as we know it today, was collated by the pagan Roman emperor Constantine the Great” (page 231).
This is “doublespeak!” If Constantine collated the Bible “as we know it today” and he died in A.D. 337, then all these “countless translations, additions, and revisions” must have occurred before 337, but we have manuscripts in Greek and Hebrew dated long before A.D. 337.
We can check it out, and Dan Brown is wrong! Dan Brown’s Biblical research is either sloppy, or intentionally misleading!
Constantine died in A.D. 337. He did NOT collate the Bible. The Hebrew Old Testament existed long before Jesus was born. The Canon of the New Testament was nearly complete by A.D. 100 and was formalized and completed between A.D. 393 and 397= 60 years after Constantine died!
So the Bible “as we know it today” could not possibly have been “collated” by the pagan emperor Constantine the Great!

Dan Brown claims through his characters:
Christians were deceived by the 300 church leaders called together in 325 A.D. by Constantine at the Council of Nicaea (p.233).
Constantine used the Christians to solidify his political power base (p.234).
The Council of Nicaea altered the Bible and removed the truth of goddess worship (p.124).
The Council of Nicaea created the “divine” Christ (Jesus was not God until Nicaea said so p.233).
Dan Brown claims through his characters:
“Unbiased science could not possibly be performed by a man who possessed faith in God” (p. 149).
This assumption is so wrong: Most major sciences were begun by Christian scientists who were men of great faith in the God of the Bible—a God of predictability, regularity, symmetry, order and great power and genius!

This book attacks all the major doctrines of the Bible.
It slanders the identity of the Lord Jesus.
The book attacks the historical, orthodox foundations of true, Biblical Christianity.
The author says the novel is “fiction.”
Page one begins with “Fact:” in bold font.
Page one ends with: “All descriptions of art work, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.” says Brown
Brown distorts fact to produce fiction!
Charlie Gibson interviewed Brown on Good Morning America:
Gibson: “If you were writing it [The DaVinci Code] as a nonfiction book, how would it have been different?”
Brown: “I don’t think it would have…it is important to remember this is a novel about a theory that has been out there for a long time.”

On the publisher’s credits page in the front of The DaVinci Code is this statement: “All of the characters and events in this book are fictitious, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.”
Yet on page one under “Fact:” are listed: The Priory of Sion, Paris’s Bibliotheque Nationale, Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, Leonardo DaVinci and Les Dossiers Secrets.
Fact is immediately labeled “fiction.”
THE FIRST PAGE AFTER THE TITLE PAGE READS:

The Priory of Sion—a European secret society founded in 1099–-is a real organization.
In 1975 Paris’s Bibliotheque Nationale discovered parchments known as Les Dossiers Secrets, identifying numerous members of the Priory of Sion, including Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Leonardo DaVinci.
The Vatican prelature known as Opus Dei is a
deeply devout Catholic sect that has been the topic of recent controversy due to reports of brainwashing, coercion, and a dangerous practice known as ‘corporeal mortification.’ Opus Dei has just completed construction of a $47 million National Headquarters at 243 Lexington Avenue in New York City.
All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.”
Brown distorts truth to make fiction!
For example: There really is an organization called “Opus Dei.”
But Brown so thoroughly misrepresents Opus Dei in The DaVinci Code that at this writing this organization is contemplating a law suit against Brown and his publisher.
For example: Opus Dei has no assassin monks.
By the way:
According to a BBC documentary, Les Dossiers Secrets were clandestinely placed in the Bibliotheque Nationale by a man named Pierre Plantard. Mr. Plantard fabricated the documents “…including the genealogical tables and lists of the Priory’s grand masters—Newton, Botticelli, Leonardo, and so on.”

The 1099 date appears to be a fabrication of Dan Brown–1950’s is more likely!
DaVinci Code = NON- FICTION?
Brown presents Church History, Ancient Manuscripts, Archaeology, Canonicity, Theology, etc., and then distorts and misrepresents their historical and traditional meaning and understanding as taught by the true church down through the ages.
True history is twisted into a Gnostic/New Age worldview interpretation.
BROWN’S TWISTED HISTORY:
The third major character of the book, Leigh Teabing, says, “These are photo copies of the Nag Hammadi and Dead Sea Scrolls,…The earliest Christian records. Troublingly, they do not match up with the gospels in the Bible.”
Attention: The Scrolls are NOT a “Christian document.”
Dead Sea Scrolls: 225 Old Testament Manuscripts which never mention Jesus or Christianity since the Essenes were a Jewish sect. They in no way contradict the NT Gospels.
BROWN’S TWISTED HISTORY:
The Nag Hammadi texts were found in 1945.
The actual authors are not known.
They contain none of the books of the N.T.
The Nag Hammadi texts are early Gnostic.
Brown presents these spurious texts as more accurate and authoritative than N.T. Gospels.
Brown claims 80 gospels total, but there are actually only 4 or 5 other than Matt., Mk., Lk., J.
Brown likes the Gospels of Thomas and Phillip.
BROWN’S TWISTED HISTORY:
Brown quotes the Gospel According to Phillip, “And the companion of the Saviour is Mary Magdalene. Christ loved her more than all the disciples [….] The rest of the disciples were offended by it and expressed disapproval. They said to him, ‘Why do you love her more than all of us?’”
This is Brown’s primary proof that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married (See p.246).
The Bible is not true, but spurious documents like the Gospel According to Phillip are true?
AND ANOTHER THING:
According to Dr. Bentley Layton, an authority on these Gnostic gospels, the Gospel According to Phillip was written around A. D. 350.

Why did Brown write
The DaVinci Code?
Brown has said in interviews that his purpose was not to just write a fictional novel, but to promote his own understanding of Christianity and spirituality.
As far as I can tell, Brown seems to have a New Age-Eastern-Gnostic type of personal spirituality which is by no means evangelical-fundamental-Bible believing-orthodox Christianity (if his writings are accurately displaying his true beliefs as he claims).

WHAT DOES THE DaVinci CODE TEACH?
Leonardo DaVinci hid coded messages in his paintings, especially in the famous fresco: “The Last Supper.”
Jesus right arm forms a “V” with the leaning body of John supposedly code for goddess worship.
John in the fresco is actually Mary Magdalene—wife of Jesus (according to Brown).
SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND:
Leonardo DaVinci was not present at the Last Supper—he was not an eye witness!
And something else:
There is no historical record that Mary Magdalene was sitting next to Jesus at the last supper, but what if she was—that would not prove to us that she and Jesus were married. And if she was married to Jesus, why would she be leaning on another man?
The Last Supper Holy Grail?
In the 12th and 13th centuries the Holy Grail was believed to be the cup that Jesus used at the last supper and miracles surrounded it.
In Brown’s novel the grail is not the cup.
The bones of Mary Magdalene are the grail and were hidden with secret documents.
For about the 1st 400 years of the church the “Christians” did not believe Jesus to be God. Jesus was a mortal man, married to Mary and they had a daughter named Sarah (p. 244).
Brown pulls two actual daVinci quotes totally out of context to convince his readers that DaVinci detested the Bible.
Quote 1: “Many have made a trade of delusions and false miracles, deceiving the stupid multitude.”
In context DaVinci is talking about alchemists who claimed they could turn lead into gold.
Quote 2: “Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes!
In Context DaVinci is referring to the foolishness of what he called men’s “own opinions,” “lascivious joys.” and “[v]ain splendor”–Not against the Bible

The book begins with a murder.
The curator of the Louvre (Paris museum) is murdered a few hours before the novel’s male hero, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, Harvard University, is due to meet with him.
The female star in the book is the murder victim’s granddaughter, Sophie Neveu, a cryptologist. [goddess Sophia popular, 2006]
Before he died the murder victim had positioned himself like DaVinci’s “Vitruvian Man.”
The French police think Langdon is the murderer due to a message written on the floor by the curator before he died.
Sophie and Langdon flee to England just a step ahead of the French police and a Catholic monk assassin of Opus Dei who will stop at nothing to keep Sophie and Langdon from finding the Holy Grail.
The true secret of the Holy Grail (Mary M.’s bones) and goddess worship has been kept hidden by the male leadership of the Catholic church for 1700 years, according to the novel.
The novel teaches that Jesus gave the leadership of the church to Mary Magdalene before He died.
Peter became jealous of Mary and started a rumor that she had been a prostitute.
Peter discredited Mary so that he could take over the leadership of the church. The male church leaders then abolished goddess worship.
AS BROWN’S NOVEL ENDS:
The main male character, Robert Langdon, is on his knees worshipping the bones of Mary M.
“The quest for the Holy Grail is the quest to kneel before the bones of Mary Magdalene. A journey to pray at the feet of the outcast one. With a sudden upwelling of reverence, Robert Langdon fell to his knees. For a moment, he thought he heard a woman’s voice…the wisdom of the ages…whispering up from the chasms of the earth.” [italics Brown’s, p.454]
Throughout The DaVinci Code Brown attempts to discredit, denigrate, cast dispersions upon and destroy true, historical, Biblical Christianity.
But what is Brown left with?—worshipping and praying to the bones of Mary Magdalene!
True, undistorted Christianity has no bones to worship because our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, resurrected after His death and took His bones and resurrected body into heaven—the tomb in Jerusalem is empty—no bones!

Are the ideas of Brown’s book original with him?
None of the ideas Brown expresses in The DaVinci Code regarding the Lord Jesus, Mary Magdalene, the Bible, Church History, etc are original with him!
Brown’s ideas are rooted in the teachings and writings of radical, liberal theologians and professors on the faculties of some of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world.
Many of “Brown’s” ideas have earlier been published by the heretical “Jesus Seminar.”
THE JESUS SEMINAR
The Jesus Seminar is a controversial group of about 200 scholars from some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
These scholars claim that Jesus only said about 18% of what is recorded in the Gospels that Jesus actually did say.
The Jesus Seminar has been referenced in Time, Newsweek, NY Times, etc.
In recent years the Jesus Seminar has been attempting to redefine Christianity as a New Age-Gnostic spiritual system.
The heresies, distortions and lies of the Jesus Seminar with all their New Age, Eastern, Gnostic ideas are now being foisted upon the unsuspecting public by a man named Dan Brown by means of his thriller novel, The DaVinci Code.
Does Dan Brown ever reference The Jesus Seminar? Did he plagiarize?
At the time of this writing Dan Brown and his publisher are being sued by the authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail because, they claim, Brown plagiarized the plot of their book.

How do we know that the books of the Bible are inspired and these other books are not inspired?
How do we know that Jesus did not have children with Mary Magdalene?
How do we know that what Christians believe today is what the early Christians believed?
BROWN’S BOOK BRINGS UP QUESTIONS ABOUT CHRISTIANITY
According to Brown, we Christians have been deceived and duped into believing that Jesus Christ is God’s only Son and the Savior of the world. Jesus was just a man who got married and had children and may/may not have died on a cross.
But the Biblical historical record says as Jesus was on the cross, He said, “ ‘It is finished’: and He bowed His head and gave up the ghost.”
Most historians do not question the Cross event.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
In talking about Jesus the Bible says: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
There is a reason for this: Only the Creator would have the right and the authority to redeem His particular creature!
The Creator is Jesus! See John 1; Colossians 1; Hebrews 1; therefore He has the right and the authority to redeem His creation=humans.
BROWN’S BOOK BRINGS UP QUESTIONS ABOUT CHRISTIANITY
Brown, through his main character, Langdon, claims he can present “thousands of ancient documents as scientific evidence that the New Testament is false testimony” p. 341.
“Every faith in the world is based on fabrication” p. 341.
Of course this means that the faith-based religious system presented in Dan Brown’s book is a fabrication.
JOHN 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
WE HAVE A PROBLEM–
The first exposure to Christianity for millions of people around the world is now Dan Brown’s novel: The DaVinci Code.
Millions of people are getting a false 1st impression of Christianity via Dan Brown’s book with all its distortions and fabrications.
The New Age-Eastern-Gnostic ideas are rapidly gaining popular support in the West, due in part to Dan Brown’s book.

The movie, The DaVinci Code, directed by Ron Howard, will give global attention to the false religious views presented by Dan Brown.
Another example of Brown’s deceptions in The DaVinci Code:
“The Jewish tetragrammaton YHWH—the sacred name of God–in fact derived from Jehovah, an androgynous physical union between the masculine Jah and the pre-Hebraic name for Eve, Havah.” (p. 309)
1) YHWH was not derived from “Jehovah.” The term predates “Jehovah” by thousands of years. Brown reversed it. “Jehovah was derived from YHWH. “Jehovah is a 16th century Latinized form of YHWH. See: Abanes, The Truth Behind the DaVinci Code
“…union between the masculine Jah and the pre-Hebraic name for Eve, Havah.”
Havah is definitely not a “pre-Hebraic” name for Eve! Havah is a Hebrew form of the name “Eve” and occurs in this form in the Old Testament. See: Genesis 3:20; 4:1
Since “Havah” occurs in the Old Testament Hebrew it is obviously not pre-Hebraic.
Has Dan Brown lied to us or did he just not know?
And one more thing:
Brown seems to want his readers to believe that DaVinci worshipped the goddess and merged the male into the female in Mona Lisa.
Brown claims DaVinci named the Mona Lisa by combining the Egyptian fertility God, Amon, with the goddess of fertility, Isis…“whose ancient pictogram was once called L’ISA.”= Mona Lisa. See: The DaVinci Code page 120, 121.

PROBLEM:
DaVinci did not name the Mona Lisa!
The Mona Lisa was first named by Giorgio Vasari in his 1550 book, Lives of Artists.
Vasari first called the painting Monna Lisa.
It simply means “Madame Lisa” and probably refers to Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, whom many believe, was probably DaVinci’s model.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, can we defend the faith! Can we give reasons for the hope we have in our resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Does our lifestyle reflect purity, integrity and godliness? Or are we hypocrites?
The Bible says every person has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:12-13)
[God] might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
